On Thursday, April 17, Shannan will be introducing a screening of Murderball (Henry Alex Rubin and Dana Adam Shapiro, 2005, color, 88 min) along with Moya Bailey. This rollicking, action-packed, fast-paced Oscar-nominated documentary looks at American paraplegics who have suffered severe spinal injuries and compete in wheelchair rugby at the Paralympic games held in Sweden in 2002 and in Athens, Greece in 2004. The film profiles several players. their competitive spirit, their personal lives and families. The rivalry between the American and Canadian teams heats up when a former American player decides to coach the Canadian. Winner of the Audience Award and Special Jury Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Click on the date to access location information.

In other news, we're going to be taking a brief hiatus from new installments of Ghost Stories until May in order to replenish our backlog. Having a ready pool of new installments is what allows us to keep to a regular publishing schedule for several months at a time, so please bear with us for this short break! Keep checking back, and we'll announce here when the next new installment is available.

Shannan will be presenting her paper, "Chalk Circles: The Romance of Female Disability" at the Popular Culture Association's National Conference (held March 19-22 in San Francisco). The paper draws on the Grimms' fairy tale "The Maiden Without Hands" in order to analyze Anne Sexton's poem of the same name. On April 1, Misspelled will finally be in book stores, and her article "Overwhelmed? The rising tide of faculty stress," will appear in the Academic Exchange.

Lorien continues to write and turn out pages at an alarming rate. It's terribly exciting and intimidating to her workshop partner.

Shannan just turned in a book review for Film International. Stay tuned for publication details! The nameless project of great secrecy (not) is still unoffical and will not be announced officially until April. There might be a hint on Shannan's filmography page, though. Just saying....

01.14.2008 ... As you can see, the revamped website is now live! We've done a bit of rearranging, but most of the old content is still here, plus some new stuff. We're still undergoing a bit of construction as we migrate the blog to a new address in order to have more control over its appearance and function, and as we discover any bugs that didn't show up until the site went live. Thank you for your patience.

This year we'll have much more frequent blog entries, as well as more regular updates to Ghost Stories every month on the 1st and the 15th. Be sure to check out the latest installment, posted this morning as the final part of our site redesign. Thanks very much to the creativity of artist Paulina Stuckey-Cassidy for the new artwork -- a commissioned piece titled "Stars and Spiders." Please take a tour of the revamped site and tell us what you think.

01.07.2008 ... The new version of the website is set to go live this month. It's a bit more streamlined and intuitive, and it should be easier to find what you're looking for. Some of sub-page addresses may be a bit in flux for a while, so bookmark the main page or the blog for safekeeping, as those addresses will never change. In the mean time, the blog is update daily, so check it out.

05.31.2007 ... There's a new installment up in the Ghost Stories project, and we'll be posting some new blog entries sometime soon. We're both going camping in June, so that will probably be it until the next installment goes live. Unless, of course, we brainstorm some new additions to the website over s'mores. -SP

04.22.2007 ... The Foul Papers Blog is now live. The look of it is still in flux, but we'll both be posting semi-regularly from now on. Also, this site will now (or, more accurately, any minute now) be a member of the SFWA webring. If the link is not currently active, check back in a few days. We're good on our end, but it takes a bit of time for the ringmaster to get us set up from that end. -SP
